Eric Wyatt was sitting on the steps in front of Public Theatre with his saxophone in a blue case. He had about 10 minutes before he had to leave for a gig and said he had a good story to tell me.

“My father took me to see Miles Davis when I was about 10 years old–an experience I’ll never forget.” ©Katarina Kojic
“…There used to be a lot of girls who used to come to the rehearsal. And I was the youngest guy in the band and I remember playing a solo, and after that solo, they looked at me so differently.” ©Katarina Kojic
“When my father passed away I took it very serious. He passed away in 1989 and once he passed away, I realized I had to pursue it in a total different manner. I was professional at that point, but after that I really got focussed… I started playing his saxophone in 1991 because it was his and I didn’t touch it. I played an alto, I switched to play tenor.” ©Katarina Kojic
As a bandleader, Eric has been to Paris, Greece and to China at least 5 times. He even speaks Chinese. His father’s saxophone, which he now plays, was from Sonny Rollins. Check him out!
