Day 16 – 2 Strangers at the New York Public Library

Niggle (pronounced Nigel), 48-getting on 28, Lover of Life and Fixer of Problems.

Niggle’s Best Piece of Advice: Live happy with balance in peace.

I asked friends on Facebook today where I should go to find today’s stranger. My old friend Haley is a librarian back in Illinois and suggested Library. So, I really wanted to photograph a librarian at the NYPL today. Unfortunately they have a strict policy of not allowing any of their employees to be photographed inside the library without prior written permission.

I met Niggle outside the Main Library on 5th Ave and 40th St. He was goofy and it was hard to take anything he said seriously, or get a straight answer out of him. According to him, he was born in London, was put in jail and then shipped to Australia where he grew up. He has lived in New York for the past 37 years and comes to visit often. (I didn’t understand it either), but he was a great personality to photograph.

I wasn’t satisfied that the library was represented and sought out a second stranger.

Tiffany walked past and I grabbed her attention immediately.

Tiffany 29, Medical Assistant, about to Start School to become a Nurse.

When I asked her if I could take her photo today, she said, “This isn’t going to be for a porno site is it?” No it is not. ©Katarina Kojic

Tiffany you made my day! I loved her playfulness and confidence. Thanks soon-to-be Nurse Tiffany. ©Katarina Kojic
